Chemical Peels
Safe for most patients, and non-invasive, chemical peels remove damaged outer layers of skin to make skin smoother, reduce scarring and remove blemishes. Ranging from mild to strong, there are three types of chemical peels: alphahydroxy acid (AHA), beta-hydroxy acid peels (BHA), and phenol. The strength of each peel is tailored to the patient.
Beta-hydroxy acid peels are widely accepted and well tolerated for the vast majority of individuals. It can be helpful for those annoyed with fine lines, dark marks on the face, and acne. One particular benefit of these types of peels is that they do not need to wound the skin to achieve results. They are also a cost-effective complementary add-on treatment to most acne regimens.
Chemical peels typically require minimal to no down time, and can be performed in less than 20 minutes. Common concerns managed with chemical peels include dull skin, acne, and skin texture improvement.
